Create an Abstract Painting Project in 5 EASY Steps!

Release Your Creativity with Rebecca Schweiger

ART SUPPLIES YOU WILL NEED:
• Heavy watercolor paper or thick paper
• A selection of 4-5 colored inks, choose colors that you love! My favorite brands are Higgins Inks, Daler Rowney Pearlescent, and Liquitex Ink (I used Higgins green, Higgins blue, Higgins white, Daler Rowney Pearlescent Silver and Pink)
• Jar of water and medium-sized paintbrush

1. Lay your paper or canvas on a flat surface. Be sure to cover your table with newspaper or an old tablecloth… be expressive! Dip your paintbrush into your jar of water. By moistening the bristles, apply an even layer of water on the entire surface of your paper or canvas.

2. Starting with one ink color of your choice, squeeze the top of your ink dropper and release it while the ink nozzle is inside of the ink jar in order to fill it with ink. Holding the dropper 4”-6” above your paper, squeeze the nozzle and drip 1-2 drops of ink onto your wet paper. Move your hand to at least two other spots above your paper and squeeze additional drops (1-2 in each spot) of ink.

3. Repeat step #2 a variety of times, however with each new time, choose a new color of ink. If you paper is drying out, add more water with your brush.

4. Allow the ink colors to mix and move into one another. There is no way you can do this wrong… there is no such thing as a mistake!

5. Place your paper flat on your table and let it dry fully. Congrats on creating a beautiful piece of artwork!
