Oil painting is sumptuous, exciting, and one of the most popular painting mediums used by artists throughout the world. In this intimidation-free, encouraging beginners oil painting class with NYC's #1-rated art studio, The Art Studio NY, you will learn the most important artistic skills and oil painting techniques in order to express yourself through the joy of painting. Whether you are a total beginner or you have completed an Introductory oil painting class and you're eager to deeper your creative journey, expect to receive individualized, one-on-one instruction from a professional New York City artist educator that our art studio is known for. Learn and practice the most fundamental techniques in oil painting, including the how to's of color mixing, layering paint, glazing, texture use, color blocking, brushwork, composition, the art of seeing. You'll discover your own unique style and feel inspired to express your authentic inner-artist while experimenting with painting subject matter including still life, abstraction, realism, landscape painting, floral impressionism and more. Carve time just for you, relax and relieve stress through painting,  and connect with fellow budding artists in a welcoming art studio community of lifelong learners. By the end of this class, you'll create many paintings to feel proud of while feeling confident in expressing the artist within you.

In this oil painting class FOR BEGINNERS, you will:

• Learn and practice fundamental oil painting class techniques, including color mixing, color value, composition, glazing, brushwork, paint application, texture, and much more
• Explore painting skills through a range of artistic subject matter while you learn to paint from still life, landscapes, abstraction, realism, impressionistic styles and more!
• Be encouraged to achieve your artistic goals as you receive one-on-one, tailor-made art instruction from a NYC Artist Educator

Art Class Materials:

Materials are not included.

You will need:

• Oil Paint Set with the following colors: Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Yellow, Ultramarine Blue, White, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Black
• Paint brushes (at least three brushes of varying widths, including a small, medium and large)
• Odorless solvent like Turpenoid Natural or Gamsol 8 FL OZ
• Linseed Oil 8 FL OZ or smaller
• Palette Knife (Triangle tip)
• Paint Palette or Disposable Palette Paper
• 4 Stretched Canvases (stretched, sizes 9” x 12” to 16” x 20”)
• Jar with tight fitting lid to hold solvent
• Reusable cloth or paper towels
• Optional: Art Smock (to protect clothes as you paint)
