A New York City based comics artist, Luke Copley enjoys finding ways to create artwork while exploring self-expression and self-documentation through acrylic painting, markers, inks, and digital mediums. He believes art is intrinsic to human life; not only can everyone be an artist—everyone already is, it’s just a question of recognizing the small acts of beauty in the everyday theatre of the “real world.”

Recently on the lam from an English degree from an SEC college, Luke Copley is the preeminent voice for finding stubborn beauty in mundane things. First born son to fellow art instructor, Melisse Copley, Luke’s work with The Art Studio NY establishes the first of many blood dynasties in The Art Studio NY family. Luke’s engaging, thoughtful and enthusiastic art instruction is an inspiration to all ages, including kids, teens and adults in NYC drawing and painting classes alike.

Luke’s philosophy surrounding art was shaped by a fondness for book illustration and American folk art paintings. He believes that art can be made manageable by honing a handful of replicable tools and techniques, but that art can only be made meaningful through individual style and creativity. Luke spent the last year working as an illustrator and strip cartoonist for his college newspaper, where he received nods for best illustrator and best comic strip at the South Eastern Journalism Conference.
