Tyler Kratz, located in Brooklyn, New York, believes that art is a journey and that everyone has stories to tell—whether in the stories we share, the projects we work on, or the places we live. Everyone has a creative voice. As an educator, his goal is to help students and fellow artists create what they want and discover new ideas along the way.

He is excited to work with the Art Studio NY because it is a community that focuses on creativity and non-judgmental expression. Eager to contribute to a supportive space for artistic exploration, he has a strong foundation in various artistic mediums. He ensures that he presents this knowledge in a way that allows his students to have fun, express themselves, and create something they are truly proud of.

As an artist and educator, he values creativity and personal expression. He loves to encourage his students to push boundaries and take risks with techniques and abstract ideas to help explore their perspectives and visual language. He wants his students to feel more confident in their abilities when they walk out of the classroom and encourages them to continue their artistic growth on their own terms.

He is most passionate about Illustration, Animation, and Printmaking. He is always practicing and creating art that he likes and enjoys on his own terms.

Creating art has always been important to him. Through the love and support he has received from family, friends, and teachers, there have always been people encouraging him to continue to make the things he wants to make. He strives in every class to embody that same kind of support for his students. He encourages discipline and commitment not just in the classroom but in his students’ own lives. Going out into the world, drawing from life, seeing a movie or show with a friend—there are so many things that can inspire one to become a better artist. His previous teaching experience includes art instructing at the Baum School of Art in Allentown, PA, and serving as an art counselor at Hopwood School and Camp in Lansdale, PA. Additionally, he has substitute taught art classes at districts across Pennsylvania, such as his alma mater, North Penn School District.

He studied Animation and Cinema at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, earning a BFA in Applied Media Arts. In October 2021, he participated and placed first nationally and fourth internationally in the 24 Hour Animation Contest. He is also the winner of the 2022 George H. Nicholas Memorial Award, given to those who demonstrate excellence in art and animation in the Bachelor of Fine Arts major.

In his free time, he loves playing video games with friends, shooting darts, and going to comedy shows.
