Portrait and Figure Drawing Classes Online

Faces and figures are the two subjects people most want to draw and most expect to fail at. They are also the two where a small amount of good instruction changes everything — because most of the difficulty is not talent, it is not knowing what to look at first.

Our fear-free portrait and figure drawing classes start from the beginning and stay there as long as you need. You will learn how to place the features using proportion rather than guesswork, how to find the gesture of a pose in the first thirty seconds, how the skull and ribcage sit underneath what you can see, and how light describes a form. We draw from photo reference and from life, in poses from quick gesture studies to longer sustained drawings.

Classes meet live online in small groups over a multi-week series, so your instructor can see your drawing as you work and catch the thing that is going wrong while it is still fixable. Absolute beginners are welcome — most of our students arrive convinced they cannot draw people, and leave with a portfolio that says otherwise.
